Responsible Service Initiatives

Responsible hospitality is broadly defined as providing goods and services in such a way as to offer a safe and enjoyable environment for all patrons to experience while minimising any negative ramifications associated with these goods and/or services. The hotel industry and the QHA have long embraced an ethos of responsible service, applicable to both the service of alcohol and the provision of gambling services (poker machines, Keno, TAB, table games, etc).

Representing a fundamental ingredient for operational longevity, responsible service is in everyone's best interest: licensees, management, staff, patrons and the wider community – to ensure that alcohol and gambling are provided in such a way as to minimise any harm whilst maximising the benefits enjoyed through moderation.
